Project: Major Event Support

City Operations planning at the Rugby World Cup held in England in 2015. Led on the selection of the host cities and venues used for the 48 games in the tournament. Established a set of criteria for joint city-venue bids that generated over £10m worth of cash and VIK support from the 13 stadia in 11 towns and cities.

England & Wales Cricket Board

Project: Governing Body Events Allocation

Independent member of the Host Venue Panel which recommends to the ECB Board which venues are allocated major matches including all domestic test matches, ODIs, international T20s and finals. Selection of the eight inaugural franchises for ‘The Hundred’.

Rugby League World Cup 2021

Project: Major Event Support

Supporting the opening weekend planning for the biggest and best Rugby League World Cup ever staged. Leading the group sales team for all 61 matches and the general sales programme around the five matches based at north east venues.

Newcastle Falcons

Project: Professional Club Senior Management

Senior management roles for Premiership Rugby club Newcastle Falcons, including CEO and executive director. Led a team of over 300 employees across every off-field department in the club. Delivered new events, enhanced facilities, 100% attendance & commercial increases and the first top four semi-final appearance in the club’s history.

British & Irish Lions

Project: Feasibility Study

Working with the British & Irish Lions and the South African Rugby Union around contingency planning for the 2021 Tour. Liaison with Home Unions, venues, commercial partners and government over the feasibility of a pivot to the UK & Ireland.

Newcastle 2019 – Heineken Champions Cup Final

Project: Major Event Bidding & Delivery

Event Director role for the bidding, planning and delivery of the fastest selling final in the event’s history. Co-ordinated the partnership between Newcastle Rugby Ltd, city council, Newcastle United FC and NewcastleGateshead Initiative.

Sale Sharks

Project: Professional Club Senior Management

CEO role for the north west’s only Premiership Rugby club, achieving a return to Heineken Cup rugby, record attendance numbers and a stadium move to a new venue.

Ricoh Arena

Project: Stadium Consultation

Project work for the Ricoh Arena in Coventry proposing a strategy to attract major rugby events to the venue, now recognised as a major rugby venue across both codes.

Newcastle Thunder

Project: Professional Club Senior Management

Executive Chair for the fastest growing rugby league club in the UK. A club with a clear purpose: to win the Super League by 2030.
